Dropping the Detox: Changing the Language of Healing

In this class, we explore and challenge common practices of cleansing and detoxing, as they are often marketed in current times. We’ll also look at the use of language, the psychological impact and cycles of guilt that result from applying a dirty/clean standard to the insides of our bodies, discussing other options and how we can truly nourish health and wholeness. We will drink nourishing herbal infusion as we talk!

The cost is 'pay what you can', with a suggestion of 22.00.

This class will be led by local herbalist, Brit St.Clair.

Brit lives in Decatur, GA, with her spouse and two kids. She’s been studying herbal medicine ever since getting pregnant with her first child a decade ago, catching a cold, and learning that over-the-counter cold medications say things like DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING, and DO NOT GIVE TO BABIES. Since that time she has studied the Wise Woman Tradition of healing with Susun Weed, and is currently studying with southern folk herbalist Phyllis Light at the Appalachian Center for Natural Health. Brit’s work with herbs focuses on simple, whole-plant preparations and backyard medicine.
